portland’s 94.7 fm launches local music hd radio channel

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Portland’s 94.7 FM is probably the best station in town if you measure radio stations by how much they support local music and local artists. They’ve now launched their new-fangled HD radio channels, and no, that HD does not stand for Hi Def like your TV - confused? Go to their site and check out what HD is all about. Here’s the 94.7 blurb “You told us MORE LOCAL MUSIC and we have responded! In fact we have created a whole new Radio Station that only plays Northwest Bands! Please Welcome ‘94/7 too - Independent Radio’ our first HD channel. Yes, you will need an HD Radio to listen on a regular basis, but for now, you can stream 94/7 too by clicking on the Listen Live button in the middle of the homepage at 947.fm”

For the second year in a row, PDX Pop Now! and Portland City Hall team up to bring local rock downtown – right to the steps of City Hall itself. This special, early-evening show – which city government officials will kick off with welcoming comments – features art-punk Americana deconstructionists Old Time Relijun, improvisational trio The Watery Graves and an additional act to be announced. The concert will showcase for the downtown population one of the city’s greatest resources – its music – and serve as an early inauguration of sorts for our Fourth Annual PDX Pop Now! Music Festival. It will also highlight Creative Capacity, the city government’s effort to forge Portland’s creative community into an effective advocacy group.

Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Outdoors in front of Portland City Hall, 1221 SW Fourth Ave.
